Getting there

Flights, trains & trams

  • ✦Flying: Václav Havel Airport (PRG) is 30 to 45 minutes from the centre. Bus 100 + metro, or a pre-booked car for the group.
  • ✦Train: Praha hlavní nádraží is central and beautiful; many European cities are direct overnight.
  • ✦In the city: trams and metros are excellent and run late. Buy a 24/72-hour pass on the PID Lítačka app.

Money

Koruna, cards & tips

  • ✦Currency is the Czech koruna (CZK). Cards are accepted almost everywhere, including trams.
  • ✦Avoid exchange desks on the street, use an ATM inside a bank or pay by card.
  • ✦Tipping around 10% is normal; a round-up is fine in bars.

Weather

What February is like

  • ✦Late February in Prague: roughly -2 to +4°C, often grey, sometimes snow.
  • ✦Bring warm layers, real shoes for cobbles, and one thing that sparkles for the dinner.
  • ✦Indoor backup plans matter, the spa, the wine tasting and the river cruise all work in bad weather.

Suitcase

What to bring

  • ✦One dressy evening outfit + comfortable walking shoes + boots.
  • ✦A small bottle of something for the plane, if you like.
  • ✦Copy of your passport, hotels need it and it saves a panic.
