A design-led hotel right by Wenceslas Square, two minutes from the main railway station, so arriving from the airport is a bus or taxi straight to the door. The good bit for us: the Monkey Bar is in the building, and hotel guests get two-for-one drinks there every evening from 18:00 to 19:00. The spa with its sauna and steam room is included, and the gym is open around the clock.

The Monkey Bar, downstairs

Prague's favourite cocktail bar is inside the hotel. Guests get two-for-one drinks every day from 18:00 to 19:00, an easy place to start the evening before we go anywhere.

Spa, sauna & steam room

Unlimited access for guests, open 10:00 to 22:00. Perfect on Sunday morning, or after a wet afternoon walking around the castle.

A gym that never shuts

Open 24/7, with proper Technogym kit, for anyone determined to earn breakfast.

A buffet plus dishes made to order, served 7:00 to 10:30 Mon to Fri and 7:00 to 11:30 at the weekend, the hotel's own words are that it is exceptional, and the photos do not disagree.

Old Town and the Jewish Quarter. Step outside and everything is there, Charles Bridge, the Astronomical Clock, the cocktail bars. Loud, gorgeous, best for a late night on foot.

Castle side, cobbled lanes, river views, far quieter at 2am. A short walk or tram up to the castle and a lovely boat ride to the Old Town.

Nové Město
